Description: 18th Century 1700s Revolutionary War Era whaling or maritime scrimshawed powder horn. Horn is in good original condition with signs of insect damage from age Measuring approximately 13” and around 2 3/8” wide at top. Flat domed top is attached by early cut nails plug is missing. Scrimshaw has an early eagle on top and schooner & clipper ships and period colonial homes. See pics for details. Likely east coast made mid 1750s too late 1780s A LATE 18TH CENTURY AMERICAN CARVED POWDER HORN. Depicting stylized houses, eagle, United States flags, and two sailing ships. Overall lg. 13 in. Condition: Several small insect holes, cracks in the side, base plug cracked and missing suspension knob.
