Description: Grenfell Mission is a medical and religious mission founded by Sir Wilfred Grenfell circa 1892 in St. Anthony, Newfoundland and Labrador. The purpose of the mission was to help the poor with food, clothing and medical care, as well as improving their global economic conditions. The Grenfell Mission established a Village Industry Department prior to 1930. Artists came from abroad to support the artistic endeavors of the residents of northern Newfoundland and Labrador. Grenfell is known for there rugs, but garments especially a piece in this pristine condition is very scarce and rare to come by. This beautiful Grenfell Labrador Industries parka is a highly prized piece of Folk art. You wont see another one like it. This vintage anorak parka is in excellent vintage condition as photoed. Made of a red thick rustic cordura canvas, with hand embroidered cross country skiers, and Inuit hunters. The jacket has a similar design and cut to a ski togs jacket from the 1930's Has a Lightning zipper, and fits like a size medium. Very rare and unique jacket a true one of a kind.
