Description: DANIEL MORGAN. Daniel Morgan (1736–1802) was an American pioneer, soldier, and congressman from Virginia considered one of the most gifted battlefield tacticians of the Revolutionary War. He defeated Banastre Tarleton at the Battle of Cowpens in January 1781 forcing Charles Cornwallis to pull his troops out of South Carolina and move them farther north. Tarleton and Cornwallis later surrendered at the Battle of Yorktown in October 1781 putting an end to the war. DOCUMENT SIGNED BY DANIEL MORGAN, THE FAMED MILITARY TACTICIAN KNOWN FOR HIS VICTORY AT THE BATTLE OF COWPENS Document signed by, “Dan’l Morgan,” approving, “Articles of agreement entered into between Gen’l Morgan on one part and Captn. Wormeley on the other - Captn. Wormeley agrees to furnish and deliver Gen’l Morgan 250 Barrels of flour in Alexandria.” Contains one page with docketing on the verso, measures 7.5 by 6.75 inches, created in Alexandria, Virginia on January 24, 1793, and in very good condition with wrinkling, creasing, a small hole to the center, and minor paper loss to the left and bottom borders.
