Purpose: Magazine engagement - A 1911 magazine needs to be pushed "home" until the magazine release engages. At times, if the magazine isn't inserted firmly, and all the way in, the release will not be engaged. Adding a bumper gives you certainty that the magazine can be seated 100% of the time.Especially important when you have a flared or extended magwell- Getting a mil-spec mag to seat requires pushing the magazine up into the magwell with a finger or thumb. A bumper extends the mag so a "normal" palm slap will seat it.Drop protection - There's not much you can do to protect the sides and feed lips in the event of a dropped magazine. With a magazine bumper, you can at least protect the foot of the magazine.It looks great - The bumper adds a look of sleekness to the otherwise flat bottom of the 1911 frame. With the colors we offer, you can match your mags to your other components, or color code your magazines to identify them. The Carbon Fiber version is printed with carbon fiber additive in the filament. I am quite proud to offer a the first functional, fully 3D printed 1911 magazine bumper on the market. Inside each bumper is a network of material giving it strength and solidity. Each bumper takes about 40 minutes to print, and I spent hours and hours designing, prototyping, tweaking, and testing these, so I can offer a functional product that looks great. Installation: Most 1911 magazines have (2) holes in the bottom. These will be used to install your new bumpers. (if there are no holes, you will need to add them yourself.) Get a bumper, and (2) of the provided screws.Position the bumper on the magazine, lining up the holes.Use a (#2) Philips screwdriver to install the screws. Go ahead and put both screws about halfway in BEFORE you tighten them.Tighten both screws evenly until fairly snug.
