It was blasted down to bare cast iron to remove the multiple layers of USPS paint schemes over the years. It was cleaned up and painted back to the original colors. All the gold is hand painted, custom stickers were made and a new key and lock assembly were installed. Remember this is 95 year old cast iron that has spent all it's life outside in the weather. Cast iron is naturally pourous so do not expect it to be as smooth as a new Cadillac fender. It is a beautiful restoration and will look amazing in your collection owning a piece of history.
