Description: Custom Crab Snares www.hellacrabz.com This snare concept and design has everything I want out of a snare and more. With a total weight of about 11 ounces, this snare can easily handle most conditions. Loading bait into the cage could not be any easier. Just turn the wing nut on the bottom of the snare and that releases or tightens the expansion plug. This plug method allows the best possible bait presentation and retention! The top centered leader line allows the snare to always land right side up and the wing nut sticks into the soft sand bottom, further assisting the snare to stay in place. I recommend using this snare with at least 40lb rated line and when the current is moderately heavy.. -Special custom cage design allowing bait to be quickly loaded into the cage through the bottom of the snare. Bait is held securely in place utilizing a provided expansion plug. The wing nut of the expansion plug sticks into the soft sand bottom, further assisting the snare to stay in place. -Cage is strong and made with 16 gauge vinyl coated galvanized steel, allowing it to withstand harsh water environments. -14” Loops are made with high quality hard nylon leader line. Loops are strategically positioned around the snare to ensure a high probability catch rate. When the loops begin losing their shape and tension due to heavy use in salt water, thoroughly clean the snare with fresh water and carefully stretch out loops manually by hand. -Leader line is positioned at the center of the top of the snare, encouraging the snare to sink and sit properly at the bottom of the ocean floor. (If you prefer the leader line to positioned on the side of the snare, you can simply run the leader line downward from the top and through the preferred angle) -About 7 ounces of lead is melted to the bottom of each snare, keeping it in place in moderately heavy current so that crabs have an easier time tracking the bait. The cage, loops and expansion plug add about 4 ounces to the overall weight. -Always thoroughly wash your crab snares with fresh water after finishing using them for the day. Salt water is very corrosive and can cause damage/rust to equipment if left on for extended periods of time. All of my snares are lightly coated with at least two layers of oil-based enamel paint to help protect the snare from its environments and reduce direct contact with lead.
