Description: Those Magnificent Mountain Movies - by Lee Cozad This first book is a fantastic collector's item for anyone interested in the history of movies, and especially those filmed in the mountains of Southern California. Lee Cozad did a wonderful job of collecting rare and unique photos that depict the importance of Hollywood's scenic mountain back lot. The forests, lakes and streams of these local mountains were used for scenes ranging from the Alaska wilderness, to Indian hunting grounds. From Lee Cozad -I have always had a fascination with movies. As a kid I collected used bottles to redeem for a few pennies that would translate into a weekly double feature which usually consisted of one Western, and more than likely, a WWII film. My first, last and only role in the movies occurred when I was in the Army. In the opening credits for Audie Murphy's true life story, To Hell and Back (1955), I am one of the hundreds of soldiers marching on a wet parade ground just prior to Murphy receiving the Congressional Medal of Honor. For this uncredited bit part, I received the grand sum of five dollars in my pay packet the following month. Since my first book, Those Magnificent Mountain Movies, was published in 2002, I have had the opportunity to meet with and interview many of the stars and crew who were involved with the films made in the San Bernardinos. As a historian, it has been a labor of love to get the facts straight as they pertain to the movies made in the area where I have lived for more than a quarter of a century, the San Bernardino Mountains.
